The eyes have it question answer

QUESTIONS AND ANSWER OF  THE EYES HAVE IT

THE EYES HAVE IT

1]………Then I made a mistake’

What mistake is referred to here? Was it really a mistake? How did the speaker get rid of his mistake? What did the speaker do then?

In the beautiful story of Ruskin bond, the memories of beautiful Missouri made the girl nostalgic and reflective. So the girl remained silent for a while. But the silence of the girl created a doubt in the curious mind of the author that his words about Mussorrie had impressed the girl or she was thinking him a romantic fool. So, to change the topic or to make the girl easy, he abruptly asked the girl what it was like outside. This question was really a mistake from the narrator's side.

Yes, it is really a great mistake. The narrator was hiding his blindness from the girl, so he was behaving like a man with normal eyesight. A man having normal eyesight never asks such a type of question. Hence it is really a great mistake from the narrator's side.

The girl was completely blind. So she did not recognize the blindnesses  of the narrator. She was equally hiding her blindness just as the narrator. So she carefully asked the narrator to outside himself.Just then the narrator realized that the girl did not identify his blindness and got rid  of  his doubt.

Or

The girl did not find any unusual in the narrator”s question , rather she asked the narrator why he did not cheek it himself by looking outside outside the window. This unexpected question of the co-passenger girl removed the doubts of the narrator.

The narrator moved easily along the berth and felt for the window ledge. Then he pretended of studying the landscape which was dark to him and resumed conversation with the girl.

2)What did  the narrator  guess about the girl's hair?

The Eyes have it written  by Ruskin Bond is relevant to the affairs of boys and girls in a society. The story deals with the theme of blindness  in love and the the theme of vision in blindness that trumphs over physical disability  with the imaginative power.

In the story, the narrator  was completely  blind, so he guessed the hair of the girl. Hearing the sweet voice  of the girl, the narrator portrayed the girls's picture in his mind. But when the girl was departing, the narrator was tempted by the tantalising  perfume of the girls's hair and became curious  to know the girl's hair style. He had no other option except  imagining the hair style. So he imagibed that either the girl had wore  her hair un bun or it was plaited. He also asked himself whether  her hair was hanging over her shoulder or it was cut very short. He extented his hand to catch her hair to be sure about his imagination,  but the girl had move away before touching  the hair.

‌3)"...... the mam entered the compartment, broke into my reverie" where does the line occur?Whose reverie is mentioned  here? What was the reverie about? How did the reverie come to an end?

The line occurs in Ruskin Bond's romantic short story 'The Eyes have it'.

The reverie of the narrator of that story is mentioned  here.

A reverie means a day dream. In the present context, the reverie of the narrator was about his  brief encounter with the co passenger girl in his compartment who got down at Saharanpur. The narrator was day dreaming about the girl with whom he had enjoyed some sweet and beautiful  moments . The narrator was fascinated with the presence of the girl and felt that the brief encounter would stay with him  for eternity. It is clear from his expression 'I was prepared to sit there for almost any length of time '.

The reverie came to an end when a new passenger boarded the compartment  and apologised  for not being so attractive  a travelling  companion  as the girl who had just left.

The proposal -long answer type extra important questions and answers for class 12 and 10 students

The Proposal
Questions and answers

Justify the title of the play proposal

proposal' is a one-act play  written by Anton Chekhov which portrays 19th century’s social and economic features of Russia. The play title works well because The whole play is about Lomov proposing to Natalya. All methods of the characters in the play are influenced in some way by a marriage proposal. From start to finish, The story focuses on the promotion of marriage. A visit to Lomov Chubukov's house to propose to his daughter Natalya. However, before he could lift her they started arguing over  Oxen medows. As a result, Lomov gets sick and leaves. later, Chubukov informed Natalia that Lomov had come to propose her for marriage. she begins to mourn for the loss of the chance to get married as she wants to get married. Lomov is also called. But  Chubukov with Natalya started arguing with Lomov over the superiority of the dogs. However, the proposal was successfully made in another way at the end of the game. Therefore, we can say that the title is apt and appropriate.

Sketch the character of lomov

Answer: Lomov was a funny man. Physically he was weak but financially healthy. He was a wealthy writer who wanted to marry Natalia. He was not really in love with Natalia but wanted to marry her because he thought she was a good housekeeper and beautiful. He said that if he wished to find true or true love, he would never marry. He felt that he was 35 years old, and now he had to live a peaceful and normal life. When he went to pick her up, she was distracted. In fact, Natalia thought she had come to take the oxen's pasture as her own, and there was a quarrel between them. Sometimes they argue over small things. Before he could ask her out, he fainted and then shouted loudly but finally managed to get accepted.

 Sketch the character of Natalya

: Natalya is a beautiful and educated girl of 25 years. And he is a good housekeeper. However, he is short-tempered and intelligent. He is serious about dating and his father calls him a sick cat. According to Lomov, she looks educated as he is abusive and unable to control his speech.she argues with Lomov over Meadows as she says she does not like injustice but when she knows that Lemov has come to propose to her. She changes her attitude and regrets losing the marriage opportunity. So she was an opportunist. When Lomov returns from being called by his father she starts down again and fights with him over the issue of their dogs. This tells the reader that she has a compelling habit of arguing. He also appears to be the dominant woman as he puts Lomov down with her quarrels and anger.

Character of Chubukov

In the play, Proposal Anton Chekhov introduced three characters. Stephen Chubukov is one of them. He was the owner of the land with a daughter named Natalia. He was very argumentative but had a habit of talking respectfully to everyone at first. He welcomed Lemov in a respectful manner and was delighted when he said that he had come to propose to his daughter. Chubukov was someone who should be taken lightly and so when Natalya and Lomov got into an argument he joined and insulted Lomov. Chubukov represents the father of 19th century Russia who wants to fulfill his parental responsibility by getting his daughter married anyhow.  Chubukov is portrayed as a loving father because he supported his daughter in all the arguments against Lomov. But he is a greedy man who  does not wants to lose a chance for a good bride for his daughter.

Discuss- Marriage proposal is important to all the characters of The Proposal

In Anton Chekov's time marriage was very important  matter, because it was the means to gain social and econonic stability  in the society .In this one act play,  marriage has been shown as the prospective  hope. Chekov illustrates  logically  and even humorously  that 19 th cebtury Russia gives less inportance to love and emotion  than property and social security.

Firstly The marriage  proposal  is very important to Lomov,  because he has reached the critical  age of 35, besides he is suffering  from many psychological disorder and insonomia. So he wants a responsibile  and skilked wife to lookafter him as well as his vast property. He knows that Natalya will be good match to  take care of his property and himself as she is educaded. So he comes to Chubukov house to propose Natalya.

Secondly The marriage proposal is equally  important  to Natalya, because she is 25 and she is crossing the age of maaiage. In 19th century Russia, women could gain stability  in society  by marriage . So she wants to gain economic and social stability  by the means of marriage with Lomov.

Thirdly,  The marriage  proposal is also  very important to  Chubukov,  because he is 75 years old father of a grown up daughter, Natalya. He wants to get relief from the burden of a grown up daughter by getting her married. So he becomes  very happy when Lomov proposes him for her daughter.

Give a picture of  19th century Russia as depicted in The Proposal

In the one act play, "The Proposal " Anton Chekov  draws a clear picture  of the 19 th century  Russian Society. That society  did not pay any attention and importance  to love and emotion. People of that society  ran Towards  moneymaking  like machines, sacrificing their emotional  needs. In the 19th century  Russia , marriage was no a bond  of two hearts,  but  a tool  for economic  and social  stability . Chekov also shows that how the landowners  exploted the landless peasants in 19th century  Russia .  The aristocratic society engaged  themseves in futile  occupations like hunting and racing dog to pass time. Apparently  they were very sober, but they did not hesitate  to abuse eachother at the time of arguments .

STRONG ROOTS--------- A P J ABDUL KALAM/ QUETIONS AND ANSWERS / CLASS 12

Strong Roots -- APJ ABDUL KALAM

1]WHY WAS KALAMS CHILDHOOD  SPIRITUALLY AND MATERIALLY SECURED?

The essay  "The strong Roots" has been extracted from the very first chapter of the much-celebrated autobiography of APJ. Kalam "The Wings Of Fire

A P J Kalam came off in the island town of Rameswaram in an erstwhile madras state. He was a boy from a middle-class Tamil family. In Rameswaram Kalams's family lived in their ancestral house which was made of lime stone and bricks. Moreover, it was very large.  Kalam's father was Jainulabdeen, an austere man. He had innate wisdom, though he had not any formal education. He avoided all inessential comforts and luxuries, but he always provided essential things like food, medicines, and clothes. His mother was Ashiamma who fed a number of outsiders in her home. Kalam always ate with his mother, sitting on the floor. Kalam's father brought kalam every day to a nearby mosque what helped Kalam to strengthen his spiritual mentality. In fact, Kalam got the lesson of love, affection, generosity, and practicality from his parents that made his childhood both materially and emotionally secured.

2)Justify the title of 'The strong ROOTS'

The essay "The strong Roots" has been extracted from the very first chapter of the much-celebrated autobiography of APJ. Kalam "The Wings Of Fire" .

This part describes his mother's generosity, his father's religious wisdom, and his community's communal harmony. His mother’s generous s "spirit, and his father’s religious beliefs and practical wisdom have made him a perfect man.  He had a very secure childhood both materially and emotionally, which helped him to learn the lesson on universality, fraternity, humanity, and divinity. This lesson makes him like a full-fledged tree i.e THE TREE OF WISDOM.  Actually, Kalam was the tree and his parents were the roots of the tree. A tree becomes big when its roots become strong and supply proper nutrients   .  Similarly, Kalam becomes a legend because he got proper grooming from his parents just like the roots . Hence the title of this part of the autobiography is apt and appropriate.

3)How does Kalam describe his father's routine life?

Kalam has expressed  great admiration for his father. He has said father led a very austere life and avoided all inessential   comforts. Here Kalam has described  his father's  disciplined  life.Kalam recollects  that his father,  Jainulabdeen started his day at four am by reading the namaz before dawn. Thereafter he walked down to a small  coconut  grove which belonged to them. The coconut grove was about four miles away from their ancestral house. He returned  with about dozen of coconuts tied together  thrown over his shoulder and then he would have his breakfast. Thus  the routine was maintained  by him even when he was  late sixties

4)Jainulabdeen attitude to adversity

In 'The wings of fire' we find not only events of In kalam's life  but his philosophical  insight into life as well.Besides being a scientist, he had enormous knowledge in the field of human  philosophy.

His father had not any formal education,  but he had profound innate wisdom. Here is a another very good example of his wisdom.

He believed that adversities provide the vest opportunities for introspection. So one should try to understand  the reasons of his troubles instead of getting afraid of   it. One can truly  judge the mistakes that one makes.According  to Kalam's father , owing to their natural instict, human  beings look for help and company of others, when they find themseves alone in the grip if dufficultues. They need someone to show them way out. Every troubled people wants a helper to show them the way to overcome  their sufferings.
Here Jainulabdeen  played the role of the helper. He satisfied  the demonic forces by offerings and prayers. But he  said that it was not a correct approach . He advised, Insted of this a person should understand  the fear ridden vision of future and the enemies that prevent  that person to reach his goal, then that person should remove  those enemies  to reach his goal instead of being feared his future outcomes.
Kalam followed  this philosophical  vision throughout  his life in his world of sciece and he was convincrd that thete is devine power which always lifts a person from his adversities  and leads the person to the true way o his life.

SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO SUMMERS DAY -Important Questions And Answers

SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO A SUMMERS
DAY ?

1], "............................... lives this.' ...... - to whom does it give life and how does it give life ?
Or, How does the poet suggest that 'thy eternal summer' shall never end/fade ?
Or, How has the poet,Shakespeare attributed immortality to the person (his friend) ?
Or, What conclusion does the poet,Shakespeare draw at the end of the poem ?

AnswerWith in beginning, the poet Shakespeare features confusion if he would compare his friend's beauty to that of the gorgeous summer's day. But he then realizes that his friend is' more lovely and more temperate' than the summer, He also remarks that summer is extremely short and variable - cloudy, too hot, windy than on.But the poet firmly believes that his friends summer' (beauty and youth) are immortalized in his Verse as long as people on earth will live to go through this poem. (Thus •this' gives aliveness of the poet's friend,) [Central idea -Actually life temporal but art is immortal

i)  In what ways is the poet's friend different from a summer's day ?
Or, How does the poet, Shakespeare present the contrast between the summer and his friend in
sonnet-1 8 ?
Or, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day -[ the opening line]  ?
Or, How does the poet, Shakespeare present the contrast between the summer and his friend in
sonnet-1 8 ?
Or, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day -[ the opening line]  ?

Answer : In the very first, the poet Shakespeare makes a comparison between his
friend and delightful summer's day. Sumner season is more beautiful, charming and cozy
than the seasons rest-But the poet thinks that the fair youth of his friend is 'more lovely and
more temperate' than the summer's day. Even summer (season/time) is simply too short,(subject to
death and decay) and variable - cloudy, too hot, windy and so on. But the fair youth of his friend is
eternal ,not fade. Nature• s summer will decline/destroy accidentally or by the principles Of nature (with the passage of time),whereas fair youth of his friend won't under death's threat-
unchanged. Finally summer's day features a limited span, but his friend's beauty is eternalized in his

Sonnet.

Arthur Rimbaud --Asleep in the valley, Question and answer

 Asleep in the valley
A poem by Arthur Rimbaud
For Class 12 Higher secondary

1)Describe the valley

In the quintessential poem,  Asleep in the Valley, Rimbaud presents a pen picture of the valley. He paints a word picture of a serene and tranquil landscape. A small stream is flowing gently and leaving behind a silver trail on the bright grass. The valley is overflowing with dazzling sunlight. The humming insects and multi-hued valley flowers enliven the sun-soaked earth of the valley.   A reader must be soothed while going through it.

This beautiful valley becomes an epitome of nature herself when it affectionately shelters the young soldier in her lap and protects from the cold.  Its quietude provides him a peaceful sleep after grueling days on the battlefield. There is a candid smile on his face lingering on his lip. He sleeps undisturbed even in the broad glare of the daylight with one hand on his chest. But in the parting lines of the sonnet with the mention of the two bullet wounds strip the positive aura of the valley replacing anxiety and horror.

Thus cruel violence of war destroys the charm of the pastoral landscape and the picturesque valley turns into soldiers' death bed.

2)Arthur Rimbaud 's attitude to war.

War is nothing but organized killing of youth with all its dream unfulfilled. --this stern reality has been exposed in this quintessential poem by Rimbaud.     He has experienced in French - Persia war  the horror of warfare.

In the poem, a young soldier is found sleeping in a beautiful sunlit valley with a guileless simile in his Azar lips. But, at the end of the poem it is revealed  that the soldier has the bullet-wounds:

“On his side, there are two red holes.”

The expression 'the two red holes signify the pity and horror of war.'. The young life is unnaturally nipped in the bud -a premature death. . The poem shows the meaninglessness of war with the contrast of innocent soldiers' death and nature's picturesque landscape.    Death is inevitable in war and the poem presents this reality through the destruction that the soldier has experienced in warfare. Hence the poet exposes his sarcastic attitude towards warfare.

3)"His  smile is like an infant"

Whose smile is like an infant? Why is his smile compared with that if an infant? How does nature treat him?

In the above-mentioned line, the Smile of a dead young soldier is referred to here.

The Very young soldier seems to enjoy peaceful sleep after grueling days in the Battlefield. Now he is taking rest in a beautiful valley without any anxiety, so a gentle and candid smile like an infant seems to flicker across his lips. Another reason for his infantile smile is that a dead person is above the complications of life and plays no tricks. Actually, the poet means to say that death has rewarded the much-needed break that induces the childlike mirth in the soldier.

Nature treats the soldier delicately. Nature seems to lavish all the comforts in the soldier. He ensconced on this warm green bed. Nature bolstered his head with a pillow made of fern. The multi-hued valley flowers soothed him with their sweet fragrance and at the time they were showing respect to his soul blooming near his feet.

4)".....He lies open-mouthed"

Where was the soldier seen lying and how? How does RIMBAUD  describe the soldier s face? Why according to You, DOES HE  LIE open-mouthed?

The soldier was seen lying open-mouthed in the small green valley. The valley was sun washed and a Small stream is flowing through it leaving a silver strand on the grass bank.

The young soldier lying seemingly asleep was surrounded by nature. He had soft grass for the bed and a pillow made of fern where he rested his head. The sunlight kept him warm. His feet are among the multihued valley flowers as if nature was conveying her respect to his dead soul. He had a candid smile on his face and he looked like an infant -pure and innocent. He had one hand on his breast as if even in his sleep, he is remembering his country.

He was brutally killed on the war front. So he was lying open mouth.. Here the soldier is a young man who lies dead in the valley as he is a victim of war.

5).."

What was the reason for these red holes?

What does the phrase "....two red holes" SUGGEST?

The twin bloody holes are the bullet wounds in the upper rib of the soldier. These fatal wounds received on the war front are the cause of his unfortunate death.

In the line, Rimbaud intends to say that though the green valley is full of life and is overflowing with sunrays, yet the red holes in the soldier s body point to lifelessness.

Here the poet subtly implies that the death has been caused by the fatal bite of an abominable serpent that stands for war in this context.

The irony of things is that the narrator was trying to cover his blindness from a woman who was also blind. Truly it's too pathetic to believe the 2 blind persons both of whom tries to cover their blindness from each other.

3)" – who is the  speaker ? What do you mean by the phrase the phrase  'brief encounter' referred to here? Why did the speaker think  that it was a brief encounter ?

In 'The Eyes Have It' the storyteller thought this about the young lady who got off at Saharanpur.

In the hour of train venture, the storyteller met a young lady in his compartment. He preferred the sound of her voice and got intrigued by her. They were talking unreservedly. When they were encountering he commented with darkness on her face by saying that she had a 'fascinating face'. Accordingly, the train showed up the young lady's objective. Their discussion was known as the short experience.

In spite of the fact that the storyteller had an interest in the young lady, he didn't have the foggiest idea of how the young lady would view their short experience. The storyteller was set up to go with her for a long time. The young lady was satisfied that it was a short excursion. So the storyteller figured the young lady would overlook their short experience when she would get down.

4)............ Then i made a mistake"what mistake was done by  the narrator  here?was it really a mistake? How did the narrator make up his mistake? What did the narrator do then?

In the beautiful story of Ruskin Bond,  the memory of beautiful Mussorie made the girl nostalgic and reflective. So she remained silent for a while. But the silence of the girl created a doubt in the narrator's mind that the words of Mussorie had impressed the girl or she was thinking him a romantic fool. To change the topic and make the girl easy, the narrator asked the girl what it was like outside. This question is really a mistake from the narrator's side.

The narrator was hiding his blindness from the very beginning and was acting as a normal eye sighted man with the girl. A sighted man never asks such a question -- What was it like outside?.So it is really a vreat mistake from the narrator's side.

When the girl had heard the question of the narrator, she found no unusual in it. Rather she asked why he did not look outside of the window himself. The narrator got rid if his doubt when he was asked this question.

The narrator went along the berth and felt the window ledge. Then he pretended of studying the landscape and conversation with the girl.

1]Why did the Tsar go to the hermit? why did he go in disguise ? why did the hermit do then? Why did the Tsar help the hermit? How was he benefitted by helping the hermit at his work?

Ans:T  Tsar went to the hermit because all the scholars failed to satisfy the Tsar's queries. They gave different opinions on his questions. As a result, the Tsar was confused.

The hermit met the only common man to enlighten their wisdom. Because the rich fail to achieve knowledge for their ego .So the Tsar sacrificed his ego and put on the dress of the simple man and met the hermit in disguise.

Then the hermit was digging the ground in front of his hut.

The Tsar helped the hermit because the hermit was very weak and he was breathing heavily when he stuck his spade into the ground. So The Tsar took pity on the hermit and helped to dig the ground.

Helping the hermit the Tsar was benefitted in three ways. Firstly, had he not  dig the ground, he would have been killed by the enemy.SECONDLY, he gained the friendship of his enemy saving his life .Thirdly, working at hermits place, he  experienced some events and got the answers of all his questions

2]  How  did the hermit  answer all the three questions of the Tsar  and make him wise?

Ans: When all the scholars failed to satisfy the Tsar, the Tsar went to the hermit in disguise to find his answer. The hermit relied on three examples and events and propounded the best three answers of the Tsars three questions.

The hermit answered that the present was the most essential.Because had he [the TSAR]not dig the bed for hermit, he would have been killed by the vengeful man.

For the second question, the hermit answered that the most important thing was to nurse the wounded person. Because if he had not saved the wounded man, he would not be able to make friends with him [ the WOUNDED MAN].So the present is the most important time and the person with whom he[The Tsar] was engaged at that particular time was the most important person.

To answer the third question the hermit said that the most important thing is to do good to the person you are with. When the tsar was with the hermit, digging soil was the vital thing and the hermit was the most important man. And when the Tsar was with the injured man, his [ the Tsar ] MOST VITAL WORK WAS TO SAVE THE MAN. Then the injured man was the most important person.

Thus the hermit explained all three questions and made the Tsar wise.

3]How did the wounded man become the friend of the Tsar?

When a critically wounded bearded man came running toward him, the Tsar was engaged in digging at the Hermit site. The Tsar had the wound bandaged and gave him water to drink. He took him to the hermit's hut as well and laid him on his bunk [ bed]. The bearded man told him the next morning that he was one of his enemies whose property the Tsar had confiscated and killed his brother. So he wanted to demand vengeance against the Tsar.  He added that he was hiding in the wood to kill him, but the guard detected him and stabbed him. .The wounded man also said that he would serve the tsar as hi most faithful servent if the Tsar would forgive. The wounded man begged the Tsar to forgive him. The wise Tar accepted his proposal and they become friends.

three questions

Qno 1.
What was the first question? How did the learned men give answer to this question ?

ANS:                            The first question was –What the exact time was   to commencement of    work  .

The scholars gave various answers to the question.  Some of the scholars said that to know the right time for action, one must draw up a table of days, months, and years in advance and must live strictly according to it . Some scholars advised remaining up to date with the recent happenings to decide the right time. Others suggested the Tsar to form a council of wise men to help him to decide the proper time of an  action .  Some advised the Tsar to take the help of magicians because only magicians have the ability to know the future beforehand.

The answers were absurd.  So the Tsar became disappointed.

ANS :                     The second question was –who were the right persons to listen and who were to be avoided.

The scholars gave various confusing answers to the question. Some of the scholars said that the ministers are the most important persons. Some recommended priests. Some scholars went in favour  of the doctors because for keeping the Tsar fit. The others learned persons suggested that the Tsar would need of soldiers to protect the country from enemies .

These answers could not satisfy the Tsar . So he became disappointed.
