Paragaph on Kanyashree Prakalpa
(In Simple English)**
The Government of West Bengal started a program called Kanyashree Prakalpa to make the lives of girls better. The main aim of this program is to stop child marriage and help girls from poor families continue their education.
Under this scheme, girls between the ages of 13 and 18, who study in class VII to XII in schools approved by the government, get a yearly scholarship of ₹750. When a girl turns 18, she also gets a one-time grant of ₹25,000—but only if she is still unmarried and still studying.
This scheme has already helped more than 42 lakh (4.2 million) girls in the state. In 2017, the United Nations gave Kanyashree Prakalpa a top award for public service. This special program has really improved the lives of many girls in West Bengal.
