2) Describe the famous banquet scene in Macbeth.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth arranged a banquet after he had gained the throne of Scotland. Macbeth invited all of the thanes. Banquo and his son, Fleance were invited. But Macbeth plotted to kill Banquo and his son on their way to the banquet by the hired murderers. According to the plan the murderers killed Banquo, but fortunately, Fleance could escape. In Banquet, everyone talked about Banquo’s absence, Macbeth also pretended to be unhappy for not having Banquo in the party, seeing the empty chair of Banquo. But, suddenly the ghost of Banquo appears in the empty chair and begun to talk with Macbeth, though the ghost was unseen to everyone. Macbeth becomes horrified. Lady Macbeth managed the situation by telling Macbeth to stop talking and informing the guests that it was Macbeth’s momentary fit. Macbeth became normal when the ghost disappeared. But a moment later, the ghost of Banquo reappeared and Macbeth started abnormal talking, looking at the empty chair. Then Lady Macbeth postponed the banquet and told thanes to leave.

Macbeth is portrayed as the greatest warrior in the army of Duncan and as the Thane of Glamis in Shakespeare’s five-act play “Macbeth”. When he returns after winning the war against Norway, he encounters the three witches. About Macbeth, the Witches prophesy that he will be the Thane of Cawdor and the King of Scotland. Via these prophecies, he is tempted to destroy Duncan and be the King. It is also worth remembering that Duncan’s murder makes him feel guilty, but he easily overcomes this and commits murder after murder.

The first witch called Macbeth the Thane of Glamis. The second witch called him the Thane of Cawdor, and he was hailed as the future King by the third witch. The witches then turned to Banquo, claiming that Banquo would be less than Macbeth,but much happier than Macbeth, and he will be the father of the kings to come. Macbeth was amazed and confused at the prophecies and puzzled because he wondered how it would be possible when the king, Duncan, and his two sons were alive.

Lady Macbeth is a character who is certainly the most important in the drama,‘Macbeth’. It is she who plotted the program of action into the story.
Lady Macbeth is highly ambitious exists
to the guideline. She wanted to see her husband on the Throne of Scotland. She had
no love for the countrymen and had no interest in the welfare of anybody except herself.
She thinks only about her position. Lady Macbeth stimulated her
husband’s mind up to the level that he
eventually murders King Duncan. However, a sense of guilt torments her. She
walked and talked in sleep. Even she washed her hands repeatedly and perfumed them to
erase the stain and smell of the blood. She had
been struggling to bear the remorse of her shameful work. But she failed. so
she committed suicide. Overall, we see that
she’s fully responsible for Macbeth downfall .
6)Explain the mystery behind the movement of the birnam woods.
Ans: The three spirits informed Macbeth in the second visit in the heath that he could never be vanquished until Birnam woods would reach to Dunsinane Hills. Macbeth believed that it was not possible to overcome him because the motion of Birnam was impossible. But when the messenger told about this fact , he noticed that Birnam wood was approaching toward the Dunsinane Hills.The secret behind the moving of Birnam wood was disclosed soon . Macbeth realised the English soldiers were advancing holding braches of the woods to cover by themselves.It was a trick of Malcolm who instructed his troops to do this.These branches were indeed taken by soldiers from the trees in Birnam woods.Actually, the Birnam woods was not approaching but the branches of the woods were moving as the soldiers had advanced forward hiding themselves under the branches
